Establishing OSHA Event Codes

You can establish codes that describe events that might be tracked by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) using the OSHA Events form.

Note:  To see a list of all existing OSHA events, open the Actions menu and select View OSHA Event Codes.

To establish an OSHA event code, do the following:

1. Click the Back Office menu and select OSHA Events from the System|Change menu.
2. Complete the following fields:

Field Description
Event Code Enter or select an Event Code that represents an OSHA event. Use something brief but descriptive, such as PHL for permanent hearing loss.
Type Select the Type of event, either Illness or Injury.
Event Description Enter a short Event Description, such as Permanent Hearing Loss.
OSHA Illness Type Select the OSHA Illness Type used for reporting purposes. If the Type is Illness, this is required.

3. Click Save.
